KDE battery power meter doesn't work after update of -current

Hi,

After updating my Slackware64-current installations a few weeks back on two older Lenovo ThinkPads, I noticed that the battery gauge on the KDE desktop stopped working on both. They only display an empty battery icon and an "X".
Fearing for the worst I checked the batteries, and even booted systemrescuecd to check the state of the batteries, but luckily they turned out to be fine.
This indicated that I was very likely dealing a software problem.
Given that in -current things tend to break now and then, due to new packages being added or old ones removed, I thought that something of that sorts may have happened.
I went ahead and installed all the newly added packages listed in CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT, but most of them were already installed earlier, so only a few packages were installed. As it turned out, that did not help: the battery gauge still did not work.
I also did an upgrade to get the latest versions of installed packages, but that was in vain as well.

When I try to query the battery capacity from the command line, I get this:
Code:# upower -i /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0
failed to set path: cannot refresh: Cannot get device properties for /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0: Couldn't call GetAll() to get properties for /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0: Message recipient disconnected from message bus without replyingThis leads me to believe that whatever the other endpoint is, it's not working properly.

My questions are the following:
- How can I get to the end of this?
- How can I check what is the binary that should be the recipient of that query? Maybe it's missing some library and that might be the reason why it's not working. But then again to find out what it is missing, I would have to start it manually. (Other parts of the KDE desktop environment seem to work OK.)

Thanks!
