Mint 20 update failed.

I am trying to get Mint 20 loaded to my hard drive but it just will not! I made 2 Mint 20 disks separately and both react the same to the update.
The Hard drive is a Western Digital 2T that purchased from Amazon.
When I run the DVD in the computer it comes up to a menu (Grub I believe) where you can click on the update, it will start loading for 2 to 4 minutes then finish at another screen that's called a compatible mode, so I say what the heck I will get it loaded then worry about it so I click on load and it comes up to a menu for entering your parameters, the first being the place you are at and language, so I click on new York and English, then it just quits, no more options, so I clicked on "Next" and it came up to a screen of alpha characters and wanted you to yes or no if it was on your key board. Then it did nothing. I tried updating about 20 times with the disks and everything was the same. when I looked at the files the home had a big X on it.
Any ideas what is wrong? How do I replace the home directory, if I delete it will the system rebuild one?
