Hamilton basketball club outbreak grows, long-term-care home outbreak hits 18 COVID cases

Hamilton's unnamed basketball club outbreak continues to grow as the city is reporting 33 new cases of COVID-19.

On Wednesday, Hamilton public health reported a Hamilton-based basketball club" outbreak has grown to six cases in patrons," one more than the day before. The city is not naming the club due to privacy reasons."

An outbreak at Chartwell Willowgrove long-term-care home has grown to 18 cases, three more than the day before, with 10 cases in staff and eight in residents.

A new outbreak was declared Wednesday at St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic Elementary School with two cases in students.

With 33 new cases, Hamilton now has 169 active cases. The city has seen a total of 1,738 positive cases throughout the pandemic, 88 per cent of which, or 1,521 cases, are now considered resolved.
