Leap-15.2 no sound with jack

I launch qjackctl for a music session, THAT's usually followed by other music apps, such as Audacity used for monitoring/recording guitar input while listening to a backing track let's say with VLC. The "pajackconnect" script is launched automatically when qjackctl starts and stops (this routes all sound to jack, which is what I want for music sessions).
All on-board sound hardware is disabled in BIOS and in YAST, except my XONAR soundcard. This setup worked perfectly under tumbleweed and under Leap but has stopped working under the latter after some updating or who knows what. The only difference I can see is that under Leap the PAV dialogue page-3 (Output-Devices) shows the "Jack sink (PulseAudio JACK Sink) slider ghosted while the same is shown live under Tumbleweed. I have no idea what a "Sink" is but would like to get back to my music using Leap.
