Report: Kerrigan requests trade from Washington
Ryan Kerrigan has requested a trade from the Washington Football Team, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
However, Washington is telling teams it doesn't want to trade its veteran pass-rusher.
Kerrigan has spent his entire 10-year NFL career in Washington after the team selected him in the first round in 2011. He's the franchise's all-time leader with 94 sacks.
The 32-year-old is in the final year of his contract, and his playing time has decreased in recent weeks. After starting all 140 games he played in entering this season, Kerrigan has started just one thus far in 2020.
The four-time Pro Bowler played in just 15% of defensive snaps in Week 6 and 29% in Week 7 as Washington primarily deploys Montez Sweat and rookie Chase Young at defensive end.
Kerrigan said earlier this offseason that he wanted to stay with Washington for the foreseeable future. He's accumulated four sacks this campaign despite the lack of playing time.
