The Tennessee Titans informed edge rusher Vic Beasley they will be releasing him Wednesday, ending his uneventful stay with the club after five appearances, the team announced.

Beasley signed a one-year, $9.5-million deal with the Titans in the offseason following a five-year stint with the Atlanta Falcons, with whom he made the Pro Bowl in 2016.

Beasley's tenure in Tennessee got off to a rocky start, as he arrived to training camp several days late without being given an excused absence. The team fined him $500,000 for his tardiness.

Once the season began, Beasley struggled to carve out a role in the Titans' defense, which ranks near the bottom of the league in sacks. In five outings, he recorded just three tackles and a forced fumble.

The Titans, who have lost two straight and their defense has been struggling for much of the season, also released veteran cornerback Johnathan Joseph on Tuesday. Tennessee acquired fellow cornerback Desmond King on Monday in a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers.
