Sydney Evans of Dundas is a millionaire after claiming his Maxmillions prize from the July 17, Lotto Max draw.

Evans picked up his $1-million prize recently at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation's (OLG) prize centre in Toronto.

Evans said he was cool as a cucumber" after realizing he was a big winner.

I haven't been going out to the store as regularly because of the pandemic, so little by little I would take my tickets to the store to check," he said during his visit to the prize centre. When I scanned it, I thought something went wrong, so I gave it to the clerk. I'm still not sure if this is real," he added.

The 72-year-old, married father said he feels this win is a wonderful blessing allowing himself and his wife to enjoy their retirement a little more comfortably.

We'll dream about some trips when it's safe to travel again," he said.

Evans' winning ticket was purchased at Fortinos on Hamilton Street in Waterdown.

OLG is now accepting in-person prize claims by-appointment only for customers with prizes of $1,000 or more who wish to claim at the OLG Prize Centre. Players should contact the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options or to schedule an appointment.
