Linux Mint Home folder does not show Gnucash or Grisbi folders
by Brant from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5AJG1)
For several years I have been using Grisbi and Gnucash as my accounting programs on Linux Mint.
When I installed them, files named Grisbi and Gnucash appeared in the Home folder, and whenever I did my backups I copied those folders to a flashdrive.
If I installed Linux Mint to a new computer I would reinstall the programs, remove the files that had appeared in the Home folder, and replace them with the Grisbi and Gnucash files from my most recent backups.
I am not sure if this was best practice, but it always seemed to work.
I have just done a new installation of Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon to a couple of old laptops, and I have done a certain amount of work on one of them. Everything seemed right, but when it was time for backups, there is neither a Grisbi nor a Gnucash file visible in the Home folder. There is a Grisbi file titled My accounts.gsb that is very small: 21.8 kb.
Can anyone tell me where the folders that I expected to see have been stashed? Or if not, a reliable method of back-ups?
