Brees to miss at least 3 weeks after landing on IR
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will miss a minimum of three weeks after landing on injured reserve Friday.
Brees has reportedly been suffering from at least five fractured ribs and a collapsed right lung. The Saints apparently braced for a multi-week absence from Brees, who also missed five games last season with a torn ligament in his thumb.
Despite his lack of aggression down the field, Brees has kept the Saints' offense moving in 2020, throwing for 2,196 yards with 18 touchdowns and three interceptions.
The Saints plan to give Taysom Hill his first career start at quarterback Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons over Jameis Winston, who relieved Brees in Week 10.
New Orleans added a third quarterback to its active roster by signing Trevor Siemian, the signal-caller's agent, Mike McCartney, announced Friday. Siemian was on the Tennessee Titans' practice squad but has not played this season.
The Saints lead the NFC South through 10 weeks with a record of 7-2.
