Thunderbird
by AlaricWood from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5APGM)
I recently tried to open something and got a message that I needed to update Thunderbird. I followed the steps and the whole system crashed. I run Debian 10.6 on a custom built machine with 8gb memory and an i7chip.
I re-installed Thunderbird from the Debian repository. I now have several problems. Many emails have a button to open a web site. The button does not now work. If I use Evolution it does work. I don't particularly like Evolution but could get used to it but though I loaded some past emails from Thunderbird I can't transfer the address book. I can't actually find the address book under any of the Thunderbird folders. The file I am told to look for doesn't exist. There is a similar sqlite file but I can't open it. Opened in Emacs it gives a screen full of symbols but nothing else. The instructions for transferring data to Evolution refer to files that don't exist.
