Replacement for gvfs-mount in -current ?

In Slackware-14.2 I have a script that uses gvfs-mount to attach to a USB device (it talks PTP or MTP). The gvfs-mount command, and all the other gvfs-* commands, no longer exist in Slackware64-current. From the gvfs package CHANGES file: "Remove deprecated gvfs utils". What are they deprecated in favor of? Is it something with fuse? I can't figure out how fusermount works.
Basically, I'm looking for a way to mount a USB PTP/MTP device from the command line, like I used to do with gvfs-mount, on Slackware64-current. Any ideas?
