Would BTRFS on LVM have unforeseen consequences?

I got this new hard drive that has way better specs in terms of speed than my old drive. Since Fedora 33 switched to btrfs as default, I thought I'd try it, but I need to use LVM since I need multiple partitions encrypted and I just wanna enter my password once. I went with two btrfs partitions inside the LVM, / and /home, but the drive is performing very weirdly. Some things are pretty fast, like boot up, but other things are unbearably slow, such as closing a disk intensive app like GIMP, even to the point of becoming unresponsive while the disk grinds away that the task. As I learn more about btrfs, it looks like more of a replacement for ext4+lvm instead of ext4 on it's own(correct me if I'm wrong), I still don't know much about it. So do you think btrfs+lvm might be causing this weird behaviour? I wanna hear from smarter people before I waste time wipeing and starting over with ext4+lvm, only to find the problem lay elsewhere.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=UWjU1LYFgK4:qslLR6Bk8ps:F7zBnMy latest?i=UWjU1LYFgK4:qslLR6Bk8ps:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=UWjU1LYFgK4:qslLR6Bk8ps:gIN9vFwUWjU1LYFgK4
