Fakecam output not working

I got Fakecam setup because I want a "virtual" webcam that I can display an image on, but other apps won't display the output of the real webcam(expected) or the "fakecam" device(not expected). If I understand correctly, Fakecam should capture the output of /dev/video1, do whatever processing I want done, then output it's product to /dev/video20. I would fully expect /dev/video1 to be unavailable to other webcam viewing software, but I don't understand why /dev/video20 is also not working. For example when Fakecam is active, Cheese says "There was an error playing video from the webcam" regardless of which device I told it to use, and webcam testing websites error out for both devices as well.

I'm using a fully updated Fedora 33, with v4l3loopback DKMS driver installed and configured, and Fakecam installed through snapd(yeah i know, but i struggled to compile it and can't get it to work at all)

PS. I just discovered after writing this that VLC can play /dev/video20 just fine.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=NanZN096hHA:xtYCj2Pgv5g:F7zBnMy latest?i=NanZN096hHA:xtYCj2Pgv5g:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=NanZN096hHA:xtYCj2Pgv5g:gIN9vFwNanZN096hHA
