Mint and ProtonVPN

I'm running Linux Mint v19.2, and I'm wondering if it could be made more secure by running it under a VPN such as ProtonVPN? (The Proton people say that they have a VPN that works with Debian, and I've asked them about Mint. But, so far, I haven't received an answer back.)
