It appears Doug Pederson may need a late-season charge if he hopes to keep his job in 2021.

The Philadelphia Eagles head coach is on the hot seat entering the season's home stretch, and his future with the team is in doubt, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

There's no guarantee Pederson returns to the team next year despite leading Philadelphia to three straight playoff berths and a Super Bowl win in February 2018, Rapoport adds.

Battling injuries and inconsistencies on both sides of the ball, Philadelphia sits third in the NFC East at 3-7-1. The Eagles field the NFL's 28th-ranked offense, highlighted by the struggles of quarterback Carson Wentz.

Following Monday night's loss to the Seattle Seahawks, team leaders including Wentz, defensive end Brandon Graham, and center Jason Kelce held an impromptu meeting with Pederson present, according to Rapoport. The players reportedly preached accountability and addressed the importance of a late-season turnaround.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is reportedly frustrated with his team's performance in 2020. He didn't travel for the Eagles' Week 11 game against the Cleveland Browns and has apparently left various practices early.

Pederson, meanwhile, has reportedly surrendered some of his offensive play-calling duties to assistants in recent games in an attempt to spark Philadelphia's scoring attack.

The Eagles' tough schedule continues Sunday with a road date against the Green Bay Packers.
