Jim Harbaugh could be making his way back to the pros after six eventful years in college football.

The Michigan head coach is believed to be eyeing an NFL return in the same capacity, sources told Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

There's a growing sense Harbaugh won't be back for a seventh season with the Wolverines and he could choose to walk away before being let go, Florio adds.

Interest from NFL teams may be mutual, with another source telling Florio clubs are doing their homework on the 56-year-old.

Harbaugh amassed a 44-19-1 record with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-2014 before he joined Michigan, leading the 49ers to a Super Bowl berth in his second season at the helm. Despite his success with the franchise, the two sides parted ways following a power struggle with ownership.

Harbaugh's tenure with Michigan has been mired with his difficulties in winning key games and failing to capture a Big Ten championship despite a successful overall record.

The Wolverines are in the midst of their worst campaign since 2014, sitting at 2-4 and coming off a loss to Penn State.
