Google Maps ?

This pc runs windoze 8, and now when we go to google maps it shows the map for a few seconds then goes black and shows a nice little sign in box on the upper right side.
So how to use it like I did not to long ago where there was no sign on option to use it?
Is this a new crap google thing or is it a fire fox thing causing this?
The snoopyness is getting old.
