Ron Rivera ordered the rare all-white uniform set for the Washington Football Team hoping it would lead to a breakthrough performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"I was looking for a big game," the head coach said Tuesday, hours after Washington ended the Steelers' undefeated streak at 11 games, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.

Washington hadn't worn white tops with white pants since 2009, but Rivera recalled having success in all-white uniforms while he was the head coach of the Carolina Panthers. He instructed his staff to get the uniforms ready but didn't tell his players about them ahead of time.

Washington fell into a 14-0 hole early against the Steelers on Monday but rallied for a 23-17 win and a third consecutive victory. Washington's previous four triumphs this season came against teams that have yet to post more than three wins.
