Setting Defaults for YaST Software Management Queries

When I get into YaST's Software Management option via the CLI, I always modify the "View" to "Package Description" (I care more about what the package is for than it's version and license) and "Search in" to include the options "Keywords", Description", and "Provides" (to broaden the search).

Questions:

• How can someone override the defaults that sw_single uses?
• Is there a menu-driven interface to zypper (other than sw_single, that is)? Something that is configurable to use the search options I listed above?
• Is trying to set up customized search defaults a lost cause? Frankly, it's looking that way unless modifying "sw_single" itself is an option.

I know this is a bit of a weird set of questions but any pointers/hints/warnings/etc. are greatly appreciated.
