Lynch: I would return to play for Super Bowl contender
Although Marshawn Lynch says multiple teams have reached out to him to gauge his interest in returning to the NFL, the free-agent rusher would only come back for a Super Bowl contender.
"I've been asked the question by a couple teams here recently: 'Are you ready?' 'I'm ready if y'all Super Bowl ready,'" Lynch said on "The Conan O'Brien Show."
Lynch continued: "That's what it would take for me to come out, to come and play again. It would have to be a guaranteed Super Bowl game for me."
The former Seahawks running back came out of retirement for a second time last season, signing with Seattle before its season finale. Lynch scored four rushing touchdowns over three games in his return, including two postseason contests.
Known for his physical running style, which earned him the nickname "Beast Mode," Lynch could be an effective short-yardage running back for teams entering the playoffs.
During this past offseason, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said, "We'll see, you never know," when asked about the possibility of Lynch returning.
Lynch, 34, was drafted by the Buffalo Bills before spending most of his career with Seattle. He also spent the 2018 season with the then-Oakland Raiders after returning from his first retirement.
Lynch has won one Super Bowl and rushed for 10,413 yards over his career.
