[SOLVED] Pasting stuff in a terminal is now highlighted, but by what?

Since the big update the other day when new KDE packages were added I am now seeing everything I paste in xfce terminal get highlighted and any newlines copied are ignored.
It also happens in xterm so it's not some new xfce setting, but what is it? I guess it's something to do with bash but where would I look for any bash settings like that?
