Big Ben: If I don't play well enough, 'I need to hang it up'

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is openly questioning his play after the Pittsburgh Steelers' second straight defeat.

The Steelers lost 26-15 to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night after a particularly poor outing from their offense.

Roethlisberger completed 56.8% of his pass attempts for 187 yards and two touchdowns, and he also added two interceptions.

"If I don't play good enough football, then I need to hang it up," Roethlisberger said postgame when asked if the Steelers could regain their form. "But I still feel like I can do enough things to help this team win football games. And I'm going to do everything I can to get us back on track."

Asked about his inaccurate passes, Big Ben sarcastically responded, "I'm just not very good."

Roethlisberger was also critical of a rushing offense that averaged just 2.8 yards per carry en route to 47 yards overall on Sunday.

"Defenses can play pass if you can't run the ball, so we need to do better at being a more balanced offense, and we need to do better at executing the plays that are called," he said.

Despite the two-game losing streak, the Steelers still hold the NFL's second-best record with three weeks to get back on track before the playoffs.

"We've lost two, we're facing some adversity, but we're not hitting the panic button," Roethlisberger said. "Offensively, we're not very good, and right now we're not playing good football and that starts with me.

"... We all need to be better. And I think that we will be."
