Why does Windows 10 to RHel 8.3 via xrdp close immediately after logging in?

Hi:
First time poster; not sure is the right group.
I have a Hyper-V RHel 8.3 VM. I am trying to use RDP from a Windows 10 machine to connect to that VM (xrdp). I can ping the VM's ipaddress from my Windows 10 box.
I have gone through the steps for installing/initialization xrdp on my RHel VM following the instructions outlined in this post:
https://redlinetech.wordpress.com/20...-on-red-hat-8/
I can "load" the vm via Windows 10 RDP and get to the xrdp login screen. Once I enter my credentials, the connection seems to wait for a couple of seconds, then the connection just shuts down (the RDP window closes).
I saw a youtube video where someone was running into the same situation.

They were able to resolve it by commenting the channel_code line out of the xrdp.ini file. I looked at my xrdp.ini file and no such line exists.
I was able to connect to a RHel 7.9 instance through xrdp (Ubuntu 20.04 as well). Is there a known issue/work around? Am I missing a step or setting somewhere?
Thanks
