Urxvt: wrap long prompt lines
by rshepard from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5BPSR)
I've been using urxvt (and rxvt before that) for many years. My only frustration with it is my inability to find how to wrap long lines rather than seeing only a '>' prompt.
This is an issue when I am deep in a directory hierarchy (for example, 8 levels deep) and some directory names are long. Even with the virtual terminal window 100 characters wide the text scrolls to the left and don't see the actual shell prompt and directory hierarchy.
My web searches over the years haven't found a command that works; perhaps a horizontal scrollbar will but every blog and tutorial has that turned off.
I'm asking for a way to have the prompt and command wrap when they're too long to fit on a single line.
TIA,
Rich
