Buccaneers place Jones on COVID-19 list
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed running back Ronald Jones on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, the team announced.
Jones is the fourth Buccaneers player to hit the COVID-19 list this week, joining punter Bradley Pinion, kicker Ryan Succop, and long snapper Zach Triner.
Jones, 23, underwent surgery to insert pins into a broken finger earlier this week and didn't practice Wednesday.
Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said Leonard Fournette will replace Jones if the latter can't play Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, according to Grace Remington of CBS Tampa.
Fournette was a healthy scratch for last week's victory versus the Minnesota Vikings.
Jones leads Tampa Bay with 900 yards and six touchdowns on the ground through 13 games this season. The third-year runner has also caught 28 passes for 165 yards and one score.
The NFL created the COVID-19 list for players who either test positive or are deemed to be close contacts of an infected individual.
