How to change a panel Icon for an active or running program

I have two programs with very similar panel icons that confuse me when they are running.
One is Firefox and one is the Foxit pdf reader.
I have successfully changed all the icons for Foxit, but I cannot change the active icon. The Launch icon on the panel and the "Foxit starting icon" (that appears when its just launched on the panel) , are all changed but the icon that appears on the panel when Foxit is fully running still remains as it is.
The Foxit program seems to be under the opt folder.
I use Linux Mint
NAME="Linux Mint"
VERSION="19.3 (Tricia)"
