"Subscreens" on a large, high res monitor?
by DiBosco from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5BT6W)
I'm not sure I have the right terminology here, so I'll explain what I'm after.
First off, I'm running KDE on Mageia 7. I suspect the big thing is KDE.
I have a lovely 34" high res monitor and, of course, it's possible to easily organise programs on the screen so I can have, say, my IDE and a PDF side-by-side.
The problem is mostly with a web browser when you want to watch a video, if you maximise the video, it expands to fill the whole screen. not just the size of the browser as it is. So, at the moment, if I want to do this, I have to move to one of my lower res 24" monitors.
Is it possible to "lock" the size of a program so that it is at a "soft" maximum, or to put it another way, you're dividing the screen up into sub screens.
I Googled around and found recommendations of kwin scripts such as krohnkite and tiling scripts, but, as far as I can make out they just auto-tile which is not what I want.
Can I do what I want to with KDE and if so, how?
Thanks!
