X11 puzzling (and annoying) error // CentOS 7.5 @ OpenHPC 1.3.5
by FGuegan from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5BXRV)
Dear all,
First of all I hope I chose the right forum to ask this question - I'm not a complete newbie on Linux but I'm not as skilled as I'd like...
For work-related reasons I need to connect to a computer cluster using remote display (ssh -Y), which worked perfectly until the last few days. Recently an error message started to pop up every so often (not regularly but frequently):
"X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication."
Yet remote display is working (GUI opening as usual), so I don't know what to think about this. I have looked for possible solutions online, but they do not seem to apply here. More specifically :
- the cluster is not running low on memory - it actually used to, which I discovered thanks to this error, but now this is corrected (59 GB available on the corresponding partition)
- I own the Xauthority file ;
- my .ssh/config file contains 'ForwardX11 yes'; in any case it does seem to be a forwarding issue...
Long story short, I'm completely lost on this, so I would welcome any idea or suggestion. The cluster I'm connecting to uses OpenHPC 1.3.5 (CentOS 7.5, Warewulf & Slurm 17.11.8). I am connecting to it either from a Windows 10 amchine using MobaXTerm or a lubuntu 18.04 virtual machine. Same result in both cases.
Many thanks in advance !
Best
Fred
