Yum update cleanup is hanging

I've been trying to locate the cause of a problem with a yum update I'm running on a machine where during a mass update of over 100 packages, during the cleanup step, yum always hangs when trying to cleanup the previous version of the ntp package.

For some background, I have a Raspberry Pi that acts as a PXE boot device and a yum repository that serves various packages to the target machine over the network during an installation wizard I'm running which configures a machine after installing the base image. It's during this installation wizard that the update is being performed, and it just hangs at the cleanup step.

The installation wizard and other factors of the configuration vary from version to version of our software. No other version has displayed this behavior (that I know of), so when I upload a different version of the software to the Raspberry Pi and run through the same installation, it works without issue.

I have done a diff on the installation wizard between the version causing the issues and other versions and have found nothing that should impact the installation. I even tried replacing the update packages from this version with the update packages from another, working version, but after talking with the build master, the update packages do not change from version to version, so there's no difference there. And the update is applied with a simple yum update -y command, so there's nothing complicated going on.

I have also tried using other Raspberry Pis, including different models, and reimaging the device with the base image again, but since this same Pi I'm using works with other versions, I don't think the Pi has anything to do with the problem.

Can anyone think of a reason why this would happen? Any ideas where I should look? I know very little about yum itself, so I'm at a loss.

EDIT: If it matters, the target machine is running Scientific Linux 6.4, kernel 2.6.32-754 and I'm using a Raspberry Pi 4 for the yum repository.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=FTn9vhXHPis:TPyFTWgembY:F7zBnMy latest?i=FTn9vhXHPis:TPyFTWgembY:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=FTn9vhXHPis:TPyFTWgembY:gIN9vFwFTn9vhXHPis
