rolling back system upgrade made with slackpkg on -current

hi all

I just did a full system upgrade with slackpkg, edited mirror and uncommented kernel on blacklist as documented, also added alien entry as the last line since I also use compat32 to run wine binaries.

I have ran slackpkg update & install-new & upgrade-all and then (after a reboot) to my unpleasant surprise I have lost my working KDE desktop and now I want it back the way it was.

The options I'm considering are:
1) running removepkg on /var/log/packages to remove everything and installing current again over the filesystem without formatting and hoping for the best.
2) starting all over with another spare disk I have (which means I will end up losing a week until I get back on track with everything the way it was).

if there's any other options I'm all ears.

thank you
