Police investigate shooting in Stoney Creek home — the fourth Hamilton shooting in two days
Hamilton police are investigating a shooting - the fourth in two days - at a newly-built townhome development in Stoney Creek.
Police were called to 590 North Service Road, near Lakeview Drive, shortly after 1:30 p.m.. Saturday for reports of shots fired inside a home.
Staff Sgt. Shane Groombridge said no suspect or suspects have been arrested. The motive of the shooting is yet clear.
There were no injuries.
Witnesses reported seeing a Chevrolet Cruze and a white SUV flee the area at high speed after the shooting, police say.
Police cordoned off a corner of a row of modern, three-storey townhomes just west of Fruitland Road.
Two cruisers were parked across three units which face the Queen Elizabeth Way.
Another cruiser, on the opposite side of the row of townhomes, was stationed across a single unit. A baby stroller covered in blankets could be seen on the driveway.
Residents said the townhome development is nearly brand new. Some moved in just last month. A block of homes on one end of the development are still under construction.
Groombridge said there is no risk to public safety.
Detectives are asking people in the area to check security cameras.
Anyone with information is asked to Det. Sgt Ben Thibodeau at 905-546-2907 or the on-duty east-end staff sergeant at 905-546-2963.
