Worker at east Hamilton Wholesale Club tests positive for COVID-19
An employee at the Wholesale Club in east Hamilton has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the store's parent company.
Loblaws was notified Monday that a staff member at Wholesale Club at 2255 Barton St. E. in Hamilton tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19," according to a listing on their online COVID-19 case tracker.
The last day the employee worked was Dec. 19.
According to the company, workers at other stores under the Loblaws banner have also tested positive for COVID-19.
Loblaws was also notified Monday that an employee at the Fortinos at 1550 Upper James St. in Hamilton as well as a staff member at the Fortinos at 115 Hamilton St. N. in Waterdown had tested positive.
Both of the workers were last in the stores on Dec. 19.
It's unclear how many staff members were affected by the cases or if any were recommended to self-isolate as a precaution. The database does not include details about where in the store the employee worked or the times of their last shift.
The new cases come as the outbreak at Franco's No Frills on Queenston Road continues to grow. As of Monday, 14 staff members have been infected with COVID-19 at the east Hamilton grocery store.
