Thunar and the metadata of .desktop files
by unixform from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5C6WS)
Hi all,
I use Debian Testing with the xfce desktop environment. I recently discovered that Thunar file manager, when in icon view mode, shows a .desktop file's "Name" value and NOT the actual filename itself.
So Thunar shows information from the .desktop's file metadata and this was done by default.
I find this very practical and handy for my needs.
The thing is that, after my system's last dist-upgrade, Thunar (version 4.16.0) stopped behaving like previously, and instead shows the actual filename of .desktop files, just like the other file managers
I use (Dolphin and rarely Nautilus).
To be honest, I don't know if Thunar was upgraded during the last dist-upgrade. But its behavior
changed after that. Anyway, is there something I can do to bring back the previous behavior?
Thank you.
