What distro should i use according to my system configuration?

Hello, i have a old system with Intel core 2 duo E6550, 2.33 GHZ CPU, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 64 bit system. please suggest me a perfect lag free, fast distro. if it'll not be a xfce, then it'll be helpful for me.
