(Almost) No video in Slack 14.2
by jrch from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5CAT8)
This thread is substituted for 'Is there a simple nvidia install?'. I don't think lack of nvidia drivers is the problem - which exists on two different slackware 14.2 computers with different video boards. Both computers are 64-bit with Alien's multilib, have worked relatively well for several years, except never have played videos on websites - except sometimes You-Tube videos do play.
This problem never appeared in windows, only after I began to rely on Linux.
The common error message is, in some form, "no compatible source was found for this media".
I don't see many posts related to this problem, so I assume there should be some simple solution (which eludes me).
I did try the 'latest' firefox suggestion, 'disabling hardware acceleration' - with no effect whatever.
I really do not favor use (here) of Adobe Flash. I hope for some other solution.
Thanks for any responses.
