The Washington Football Team is planning to start quarterback Alex Smith on Sunday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Smith missed the previous two weeks due to a calf strain. The signal-caller is officially listed as questionable.

The 36-year-old feels fine after practicing this week ahead of the prime-time showdown, per Rapoport. Smith will receive a final evaluation Sunday morning.

Washington will clinch the NFC East and its first playoff appearance since 2015 with a win against its division foe.

Dwayne Haskins started in Smith's absence. However, Washington replaced him during a Week 16 matchup against the Carolina Panthers with Taylor Heinicke and waived Haskins on Monday.

Smith is a leading candidate for the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year honor. He's passed for 1,420 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions through seven games.
