The Detroit Lions plan to pursue Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider for their own GM role, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Schneider is also the Seahawks' executive vice president and has served in both roles since 2010. Under his direction, Seattle has reached the postseason eight times, including two Super Bowl appearances and one championship.

The 49-year-old, who's under contract for one more season, doesn't have full roster control with the Seahawks, Rapoport adds. The Lions could offer Schneider complete control, which would reportedly bypass the league's anti-tampering policy.

Detroit has conducted a handful of interviews, which include three in-house candidates and outside former front-office personnel like Rick Smith, Scott Pioli, and Thomas Dimitroff. ESPN analyst Louis Riddick has reportedly also been interviewed.

The Lions fired head coach Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn after a 4-7 start to the season. Detroit interviewed former Cincinnati Bengals sideline boss Marvin Lewis for the head coaching position Thursday, Rapoport reports.
