Fitzgerald ruled out for possible final game of NFL career
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will be inactive for what could be the final game of his storied 17-year career.
Fitzgerald, 37, was ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Los Angeles Rams due to a groin injury.
The future Hall of Famer's role in the Cardinals' offense has diminished after the arrival of star wideout DeAndre Hopkins, who leads the team with 111 catches for 1,372 yards and six touchdowns entering Week 17.
Fitzgerald has recorded career lows this season with 54 catches, 409 yards, and one score.
The veteran returned to Arizona on a one-year deal worth up to $11 million this past offseason.
The Cardinals must beat the Rams in order to have a chance at securing a wild-card spot.
