Preventing laptop from sleeping when lid is closed
by LinuxNoob96 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5CD6B)
After hours I have finally managed to install CentOS 8 as well as a minecraft server on my old laptop. The only problem is as stated in the title. I have changed the /etc/systemd/logind.conf file and set everything to do with the lid as well as the handle suspend signal/button/key-thing to ignore. I have also used the command "systemctl restart systemd-logind.service" various times with and without sudo in front and with and without .service at the end. Sometimes this would do nothing, and sometimes it would ask me to login into a user to ""authorize". When that happens I have tried both of my users(one admin(is that root?) and one mande for minecraft server). It outputs "authorization complete" after login and turns my [blinking underscore] red. I have also restartet the machine. None of this seems to have done anything, except for the fact that last time I tried it would not let me shutdown the system with "shutdown -h now" because of something with one of my users and prompted me to use another command("shutdown -i somethingsomething") if I wanted to shutdown. Please, for the love of god help me I am tearing my hair out.
