Python script modification problem

Hi,
I know almost nothing about python.
I modified some python files and plain txt files in the folder of an applet to have it to my taste and it worked nice.
I modified them with a plain txt editor and saved them.
The problem is that after a reboot those files are being overwritten to default every time.
Is there a command a should have run after the modification.
P.S. the applet work as intended as soon I save the files so the mods are fine.
