setting up dhcp primary and backup

I am setting up a new dhcp on rhel8, which is simple enough.
Currently, my org has 2 dhcp servers that were both rhel 6. They were set up identical, with identical dhcpd.conf files. They maintain the same logs, I am not sure why/how that was done as it was before my time.

Anyways, I set up the new dhcp like the old ones, seems to serve IPs fine. Problem is that doing it this way can lead to IP shortage if 1 goes down.

What I'd like to do is set up the new server as primary, it has more than enough oomph to do so. Then redo 1 of the old servers to rhel8 and have it as backup. Issue is that it seems hard to find info on how to do this.

I found this, it's pretty recent. https://kb.isc.org/docs/aa-00502
Is this basically all there is to it, or does red hat do it different? I am using the rhel yum install of dhcp.

I'll check with red hat, but it takes a while for them to get back.
