I recently had some issues trying to run slackware64-14.2 on a intel NUC8i5BEH (released Q3 2018): it's not so new so I was quite surprised (and this issue probably also hits many other NUC owners with IRIS graphics card, I219-V ethernet NIC or newer or Wireless-AC 9560 wifi/bt NIC or newer )
With an out of the box slackware64-14.2 install the following things did not work:
If you want to run slackware64-14.2 you have a couple of options both require borrowing elilo from slackware64-current:
Alternatively if you are happy to run slackware64-current that should work out of the box.
NB: To get the installer to boot you probably need to disable secure boot in the BIOS
Hopefully this information will save other NUC owners a few headaches ;)

With an out of the box slackware64-14.2 install the following things did not work:
- Eternet (no nic shows up no matter what intel driver you try to use)
- Wifi/Bluetooth (no nic shows up no matter what intel driver you try to use)
- Xorg fails to start (complaining there is no available display)
