Hamilton police ask for help identifying armed suspect in west Mountain jewelry store robbery

Hamilton police are asking for the public's help in identifying an armed suspect" in a jewelry store robbery at a Mountain mall.

A male suspect entered The Western Jewellery Store in Westcliffe Mall at 640 Mohawk Rd. W. at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 5. The man inquired about jewelry and was given the opportunity to hold a bracelet" worth approximately $3,000, police say.

The police say the suspect - who an employee noted was in possession of a handgun - fled the store with the jewelry.

The employee did not sustain injuries during the robbery.

Police say they learned the suspect had initially arrived at the store moments before" it opened, and was told to return after 11 a.m.

The suspect is described as a white male with dark hair. He was wearing a black zippered jacket, black hoodie with a yellow and red symbol, white pants and black shoes.
