Upgrading smartmontools from 7.1 to 7.2

So this is based around unraid, which runs on top of slackware 14.2+ according to its terminal.

I have quite a few hard drives that fail to report any SMART data in unraid.

People reporting the same issue as me: https://www.smartmontools.org/ticket/1331

and it looks like smartmontools fixed it here: https://www.smartmontools.org/changeset/5074

THe version of smartmontools bundled with unraid is currently 7.1, and i'd like to upgrade it to 7.2 which I believe is compatible: https://www.smartmontools.org/wiki/Packages and includes the above fix.

I'm certainly in way out my depth here, and wondered where or what I should be pointed towards reading up on to do this.

I'm very much used to telling a package manager to "do things" or taking precompiled binaries and not thinking much beyond that. Slackware doesn't afford me quite so many luxuries it seems. The maintainer is merely an email, which I can't imagine i'm to actually email.

Does this involve compiling from source or something I else I equally have no knowledge of?

Thanks for any help in advance, i'd like to have all 8 drives not blindly report a pass sooner rather than later!latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=HI2nye2Mqrs:AAHcj1yK_jA:F7zBnMy latest?i=HI2nye2Mqrs:AAHcj1yK_jA:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=HI2nye2Mqrs:AAHcj1yK_jA:gIN9vFwHI2nye2Mqrs
