showmount command returns nothing in setting up nfs share
by lnewbyy from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5CGC6)
I am trying to set up NFS share between 2 ubuntu machines at home ( both connected to the same WIFI router etc); Did the steps for NFS share on my laptop; then on the client machine ( desktop), I issued the command $showmount -a 10.0.0.5 ;
(expecting a list of NFS shares), but the command got hung and the command prompt was not returned. I have a feeling that they do not "talk to each other" although
I can successfully ping each other using IP address. Actually I failed to set up SMB/samba share also between the two machines. Any ideas as to what is happening? Would appreciate any help.
