File system - NTSF under Linux ?
by Rumple from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5CHJ5)
Hello everyone! I appologies if this is not the place for this. Let me know.
The day has finaly come where I feel confident to move to a Linux distro. Away with Windows Spyware, and Bill Gates Psycho control!!
Too bad project libreboot is taking so long... those backdoors are here to stay :(
Anyway, my issues here is Im still relativly new to linux, been raised on Windows. Ive just found out about files systems. I have a Secondary HardDrive that I use for my medias; Music, movies, picture etc. So I am using it quite often but not has often has my gaming hard drive. Now that I am ready to migrate to Linux, I dont mind erasing my gaming hard drive and making it a ext4. BUT!!!... but I dont want to lose all the data on that Secondary hard drive, originaly formated under windows as a NTSF. So here are my questions;
1. Can i just mount it in linux by itself as an NTSF and use it the same way i have been, adding movies pictures and music ? I wont have any operating system on it.
2. If not, I have a 3rd hard drive which I was thinking to format into ext4 in a linux machine then Direct copy paste my Media drive (NTSF) to the 3rd (ext4) THEN format the Media drive to ext4 and clone the 3rd drive onto the Media Drive But the little i ve found on internet says I cant simply do it like that. So what do you suggest me to do ?
FYI : Its not gonna be a dual operating system, 1 operatingLinux system only =D
Thanks everyone!!
