The Dallas Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Mike Nolan on Friday after one season, the team announced.

Dallas also dismissed defensive line coach Jim Tomsula.

"I am appreciative of my relationships with both Mike and Jim, and I am grateful for the contributions that both of them made to our team under difficult circumstances in 2020," head coach Mike McCarthy said in a statement. "These are never easy decisions to make, and we wish them, and their families, the very best in the future."

The Cowboys allowed 29.6 points per game in 2020, the most in franchise history.

Dallas also ranked 23rd in yards allowed per contest while recording just 31 sacks.

Nolan joined the Cowboys after the 2019 season. He'd spent the previous three campaigns as linebackers coach of the New Orleans Saints.
