Fire marshal to investigate Glanbrook fire that sent one man to hospital
The Office of the Fire Marshal has been called to investigate a fire in Glanbrook Friday morning that sent one man to hospital.
Emergency services were called to the fire at a multi-residential property on Upper James Street near English Church Road East shortly after 9:20 a.m. Jan. 8.
A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment of suspected smoke inhalation and moderate burns, said Hamilton Paramedic Service Supt. Dave Thompson.
One other person was assessed at the scene, but not taken to hospital.
When fire crews first arrived, smoke and flames were visible from the second floor, said Hamilton fire assistant deputy chief Carla MacDonald.
Fire was found in a second-floor bedroom that had extended to the attic, she said.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze in the bedroom, before tackling the attic.
The extent of damage is not yet clear.
The southbound lanes between Dickenson Road East to English Church Road were closed for most of the morning, but have since reopened.
