Halton Regional Police are investigating a car crash into a Burlington home that has caused a "major natural gas leak" Wednesday morning (Jan. 13).

The crash on Tobyn Drive, in the area of Walker's Line and Upper Middle Road, in Burlington was caused by a suspected drunk driver early Wednesday, according to Halton police who tweeted about the incident before 6 a.m.

"Area residents evacuated," police said in a tweet. "Please avoid."

Burlington firefighters, Halton police, Halton Region Paramedics, Burlington Transit buses and gas crews were called to the scene.

A 41-year-old man - believed to be the driver of the vehicle - has been sent to hospital, according to an emergency responder.
