Is there such thing as a usable lightweight browser for Linux?
by Sofia-M from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5CVRX)
Hello,
I have been trying a few browsers these days and couldn't find one which would be both lightweight and fully functional.
To be clear:
By lightweight I mean that it won't takes a ton of space on the HD.
For example, I presently use Falkon, which is small by itself, but requires a truckload of dependencies.
Here a non comprensive sample of required downoalds on a core Debian system:
browsertotal mb
falkon 305
qutebrowser 277
chromim237
firefox203
iceweasel203
epiphany 94
midori7 91 (+ 212 gstreamer)
luakit 1.2 84
surf 80
hv3 29
links2 11
dillo 6
When I say fully functional, I mean that I can use youtube, Google Docs, Facebook, Gmail, etc.
As far as I could see, all browsers below 200mb either suck when it comes to these websites, or do not work at all.
Hence my question, is there anything else out there which would fit the bill?
